What is my teaching philosophy?

It's been some time since I've had to articulate it and I guess I haven't had to sit down and consciously think about it for at least 15 years - it was one of those things we all enthusiastically and naively sat down and wrote at the end of our teacher training.

I was chatting with a colleague about relationships during the week - she talked about how relationships was the key thing about her teaching philosophy. Then I sat down with our DP to talk about the students in my class and I started to think about the relationships I have with them.

I have a lot of dreams and desires for the students in my class and I am coming to realise that in order to facilitate these in the best way possible I need to have a 'good' relationship with them.

So then, my teaching philosophy is to develop a relationship with my students that helps them to take risks, to try new things, and to be proud of themselves as people and learners.
